Bus Terminal Authority Facilitates Return of Citizens Post-Songkran Celebrations

Bangkok: The Bus Terminal Authority (BTA) has instructed station managers nationwide to facilitate the return of citizens after celebrating Songkran. Mr. Atthawit Rakchamroon, Managing Director of Transport Co., Ltd. (BKS), has revealed plans for managing the expected surge in travel following the festival.

According to Thai News Agency, from April 15 to April 19, it is anticipated that an average of 110,000-120,000 people will travel back after celebrating Songkran 2026, with an average of 6,000-7,000 bus trips per day. To manage this influx, BKS has arranged four shuttle buses to provide free service on the route from Mochit 2 Bus Terminal - BTS Mochit - Bangkok Central Station (Gate 2). These shuttles will operate from April 15-20, between 4:00 AM and 7:00 AM, picking up and dropping off passengers in front of the flagpole at Mochit 2 Bus Terminal. This initiative is intended to facilitate the public and help alleviate congestion from the bus terminal to major transportation hubs.

In addition to the shuttle service, BMTA buses and electric buses from Thai Smile Bus Co., Ltd. are providing services to the public at Mochit 2 Bus Terminal, connecting to various areas on 22 routes. Taxis are also available to assist with travel. Moreover, bus station managers nationwide have been instructed to prepare buses and staff to provide services at bus terminals originating from other provinces. This effort aims to facilitate the safe and efficient return of people to Bangkok. On April 15, a total of 98,451 passengers were reported, with 51,213 returning to Bangkok on the inbound trip and 47,238 on the outbound trip.
