Singapore: "Cream" Busanan Ongbamrungphan was defeated by Hina Akashi of Japan, ending her tournament run in the first round of the 2026 Singapore Open badminton tournament.

In the women's singles first round, "Cream" Busanan Ongbamrungphan, ranked 18th in the world, faced Hina Akashi, ranked 22nd in the world from Japan. The matches were closely contested until the third game, where Cream Busanan started stronger and took an early lead.
