By-Election in Kanchanaburi District 4 Sees High Voter Turnout

Kanchanaburi: The atmosphere during the by-election for Kanchanaburi District 4 MP was lively throughout the morning. Some people came to vote even before the polls opened.

According to Thai News Agency, the news team has been touring polling stations in Kanchanaburi’s District 4 area and found that some polling stations have been bustling with people casting their ballots, especially the elderly who voted early in the morning before attending to other errands.

Mr. Sawaeng Boonmee, Secretary-General of the Election Commission (EC), visited the polling stations to inspect their orderliness. He stated that the overall process has been smooth since the stations opened at 8:00 a.m. He reminded the public that they have until 5:00 p.m. to exercise their right to vote and expressed the EC’s goal for a voter turnout of at least 60 percent of the more than 130,000 eligible voters.

Regarding news that Deputy Interior Minister Sakda Wichiensilp filed a complaint against Pheu Thai Party leader Nattawut Saikua for posting photos and messages suggesting possible election fraud, the EC Secretary-General commented that the matter is under investigation and is being monitored closely. He assured that fairness will be maintained for all parties involved.
