The Cabinet, during its meeting on 8 September 2020, acknowledged measures to promote the employment of 260,000 new graduates. The measures were earlier approved by the Center for Economic Situation Administration.
The number of new graduates is divided into three groups, namely graduates with a bachelor’s degree, those with a diploma, and those with a lower-level certificate of vocational education.
The Government will give subsidies to employers, so that they will pay for the salaries of this number of graduates for a period of one year, from 1 October 2020 to 30 September 2021.The employers must operate under the social security system.
Employees participating in the project must be Thai national and have graduated in the 2019 or 2020 academic year. Altogether one million jobs will be offered to the unemployed in various sectors.
Prime Minister and Defense Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha stated that the Ministry of Labor would organize a “Work Expo” to generate more employment for the people.
