Cabinet Acknowledges September 2025 Industrial Economic Growth with 1.0% MPI Increase

Bangkok: The Cabinet acknowledged the state of the industrial economy in September 2025, with the Manufacturing Production Index (MPI) growing by 1.0%.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Lalida Periswiwatana, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office, disclosed that the Cabinet meeting recognized the industrial economic report for September 2025, presented by the Ministry of Industry through the Office of Industrial Economics. The MPI for the month reached 94.56, marking a 1.0 percent increase compared to the same month last year, indicating a recovery in the industrial sector fueled by domestic demand and specific export markets.

The automotive industry was a key contributor to this growth, expanding by 5.6 percent due to heightened demand for hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and electric vehicles, in addition to promotional activities at the quarter’s end. Refined petroleum products saw a 3.6 percent rise, driven by demand for jet fuel, diesel, and gasohol. Additionally, the electronic components and circuit board sector experienced a robust 9.4 percent growth, attributed to the rising demand for electronic products, notably printed circuit boards (PCBA).

Conversely, some industries faced a downturn. The air conditioner sector contracted by 23.0 percent, affected by reduced domestic purchasing power and increased competition from imported products. The coffee, tea, and instant herbal powders sector plummeted by 85.2 percent due to production stoppages by major manufacturers and the influx of substitute products. Concrete products also declined by 8.0 percent, reflecting a slowdown in the real estate and construction industries.

Ms. Lalida emphasized the importance of this report in guiding the monitoring of Thailand’s economic and industrial sectors. It is anticipated to aid in crafting suitable policies and measures to fortify the Thai industrial sector moving forward.
