Cabinet Approves Leave for Mass Ordination of 93 Monks to Honor Queen Sirikit

Bangkok: The Cabinet has approved a special leave policy allowing civil servants and state enterprise employees to participate in a mass ordination project involving 93 monks. This initiative is aimed at dedicating merit to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother.

According to Thai News Agency, the Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, Ms. Airin Phanrit, announced that the Cabinet's resolution permits various categories of government workers, including permanent and temporary employees of government agencies and state enterprises, to take part in this significant event. Scheduled from February 27, 2026, to March 9, 2026, this 10-day period will not count as leave. Instead, it will be regarded as official duty, allowing participants to receive their regular salaries, as recommended by the Ministry of Interior.

The initiative seeks to provide government personnel, civil society networks, and the general public with an opportunity to express gratitude for Her Majesty's benevolence. Additionally, it aims to inspire individuals to develop themselves and perform commendable acts that can serve as examples for future generations.
