Bangkok: The Cabinet has officially approved the draft master plan for agricultural development, aiming for a 5 percent annual increase in agricultural and agro-industrial exports. The plan targets an income of 537,000 baht per household for farmers by 2027.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Anukul Prueksanusak, Deputy Government Spokesperson, announced that the Cabinet has endorsed the Master Plan for Agricultural Development, Issue 2 (2025 – 2032). The Office of the Agricultural Policy and Planning Office, along with relevant agencies, will lead the initiative to ensure the stability and sufficiency of Thai farmers. The plan emphasizes smart agriculture, quality standards for agricultural products, and environmentally friendly practices. The government aims for 75 percent of farmer households to be resilient and adaptable to changes, with the goal of increasing agricultural and agro-industrial export value by 5 percent annually. The plan also seeks to boost the country’s GDP through the agricultural sector by at least 4.5 percent annually and achieve a net cash income of no less than 537,000 baht per household by 2027.
Additional input has been proposed by several ministries, including Foreign Affairs, Tourism and Sports, Social Development and Human Security, Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, Agriculture and Cooperatives, Transport, Natural Resources and Environment, Digital Economy and Society, Energy, Commerce, Interior, Labor, Public Health, Industry, and others. These ministries have suggested incorporating data on the results of operations and other observations to enhance the plan’s effectiveness.
