Bangkok: "Saeng" reveals that the Cabinet has not yet sent a letter requesting an opinion on reducing the excise tax by 1 baht.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Saweang Boonmee, Secretary-General of the Election Commission, addressed the statement by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, Pipat Ratchakitprakarn. In his capacity as Director of the Center for Monitoring and Managing the Conflict in the Middle East, Ratchakitprakarn indicated that he would send a letter to the Election Commission requesting approval for a Cabinet resolution from a special meeting to reduce the excise tax by 1 baht.
Mr. Boonmee stated that the Election Commission has not yet received any letter from the Cabinet concerning this matter. The proposed tax reduction is aimed to alleviate the burden of fuel prices, but as of now, the formal request for approval has not been initiated.
