Chanthaburi: General Natthaphol Nakpanich, Minister of Defence, disclosed significant progress in the General Border Committee (GBC) meeting, with Cambodia accepting the original agreement. He emphasized that Thailand has successfully reclaimed 99% of its land and is committed to maintaining strategic areas to protect its sovereignty. General Natthaphol noted the complexity of reclaiming land and the even greater challenge of maintaining it.

According to Thai News Agency, the meeting held at Thewa Phitak Camp in Pong Nam Ron District, Chanthaburi Province, saw General Natthaphol announcing Cambodia's acceptance of all four agreements previously made in Kuala Lumpur. While most objectives have been achieved, some areas still require troop deployment. The Minister stressed the importance of safeguarding Thai land, particularly in regions crucial for national sovereignty and the welfare of the people.

The 3rd/68th Special Session of the Thai-Cambodian GBC Meeting scheduled for today at the Ban Phak Kad permanent border crossing involved a 30-minute discussion between the Thai and Cambodian chairpersons, concluding with a signing ceremony. Following this, General Natthaphol and his delegation proceeded to the Chatrium Resort Hotel for a press conference.
