Phnom Penh: A Cambodian defense spokesperson announced that barbed wire, which had been deployed by Thai soldiers on Cambodian territory, has been successfully removed.
According to Nam News Network, the illegal installation of barbed wire by Thai forces in the An Ses area of Preah Vihear province on August 4 has been dismantled, and all related machinery has ceased operations as of the afternoon of August 5, 2025. This update was provided by Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, the Defense Ministry’s Undersecretary of State and spokesperson, through a press release.
The removal of the barbed wire was achieved following discussions and negotiations between Cambodian and Thai military forces stationed in the An Ses area, Lt. Gen. Socheata further explained. This development marks a positive step towards resolving tensions between the two nations regarding border disputes.
