Cambodia Expected to Accept Invitation for ASEAN Trilateral Talks:

Bangkok: Prime Minister Sihasak has expressed optimism that Cambodia will accept an invitation to participate in trilateral talks alongside Thailand and the Philippines during the ASEAN Summit scheduled from May 7-9. The discussions are set to focus on establishing trust as a precursor to the General Border Committee (GBC) talks.

According to Thai News Agency, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sihasak Phuangketkaew, highlighted Cambodia's potential participation in the trilateral meeting, which will be held during the 48th ASEAN Summit in the Philippines. Sihasak noted that the Philippines, as the host nation, is actively coordinating the process to facilitate these crucial discussions. He conveyed his expectation that Cambodia would accept the invitation and affirmed that Thailand has already prepared the necessary content and details for the upcoming dialogue. He further mentioned that future discussions would be overseen by the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Sihasak addressed the prospective General Border Committee (GBC) discussions, indicating that these would be considered in future dialogues. He stressed the importance of building mutual trust before proceeding with such talks, with the upcoming forum in the Philippines concentrating on advancing the relationship through strategic measures.
