Phnom Penh: About 80,000 Cambodian villagers have been forced to evacuate their homes as armed clashes between Cambodian and Thai soldiers continue over disputed border areas. The conflict has now entered its fourth day, as reported by a defence ministry spokesperson.

According to Nam News Network, the evacuation has affected three provinces: Preah Vihear, Oddar Meanchey, and Pursat. The number of displaced families has reached 25,000, totaling up to 80,000 individuals. Lieutenant General Maly Socheata, Undersecretary of State and spokesperson for the Cambodian Defence Ministry, provided these figures during a press briefing.

In addition to the mass displacement, the ongoing conflict has led to the closure of 536 schools, impacting 130,000 students across the affected regions. This development highlights the broader social impact of the military standoff, which remains unresolved as tensions persist along the contested border.
