CCTV Footage Captures Break-In at Phra That Sri Song Rak

Bangkok: CCTV footage shows a man breaking into the glass door of Phra That Sri Song Rak. Police are working to track him down and expect to catch the perpetrator soon.

According to Thai News Agency, CCTV footage from inside Phra That Si Song Rak in Dan Sai District, Loei Province, captured a male suspect at 3:30 a.m. yesterday. The suspect is described as being no more than 40 years old, wearing a blue t-shirt, black shorts, and a mask, with a headlamp attached to his head. The footage shows him entering the pagoda, circling the area, and rummaging through the Buddha statues. He then used a metal bar to smash a glass door but did not take any belongings. The suspect fled the scene on foot.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Wiradej Lekhawarakul, Provincial Police Commander of Loei Province, along with the Dan Sai Police Station Superintendent and investigative officers, visited the site after the incident was reported. The caretaker of Phra That Sri Song Rak, Mr. Sommakon, reported hearing a loud noise and witnessing the thief running away. Upon inspection, it was found that the glass door had been shattered, but no other property was missing.

Police are reviewing the CCTV footage, which clearly captured the suspect, and are gathering additional evidence. They expect to apprehend the perpetrator soon.
