Chada Thaiseth Clarifies Songkran Money Distribution as Personal Gesture

Bangkok: Chada Thaiseth, a Member of Parliament for Uthai Thani from the Bhumjaithai Party, clarified his actions concerning the distribution of money to the elderly during the Songkran festival. He stated that the funds came from his personal salary and were given as a sign of respect towards the elderly, a tradition that he maintains. Chada emphasized that this act was not part of a campaign rally and would not impact the forthcoming election.

According to Thai News Agency, Chada addressed remarks made to Ms. Rakchanok Srinok, an MP from the People's Party, stating, "If you want to be rich, you have to be my girlfriend," which he explained was lighthearted banter. He mentioned that the comment was harmless and made between colleagues who frequently collaborate on various committees. Chada further clarified that he was unaware of her personal relationship status and apologized if his words were misconstrued. He also noted that while he himself is single, he values finding someone who genuinely loves him.

Chada also shared details about his ongoing health issues, including a neck spine problem and calcium deposits in his ear, which have affected his balance and standing ability. He is currently undergoing physical therapy and assured that these issues do not hinder his public service duties. Recently, Chada experienced a minor accident while dismounting a motorcycle, leading to a toenail removal. Despite these challenges, he expressed support for the government and the Thai people in managing high fuel prices.
