Chadchart Visits Factory Fire Shelter as Smoke Persists

Bangkok: Governor Chadchart Sittipunt visited the temporary shelter established at Wat Lamphong School, Soi Chalongkrung 55, following a furniture factory fire that continues to produce thick smoke. Accompanied by Dr. Thirat Samretwanich, Deputy Minister of Interior, and Dr. Surachit Pongsingwittaya, President of the Bangkok Council, the governor assessed the situation and met with those affected by the incident.

According to Thai News Agency, the fire has diminished but intermittent flames still erupt in the factory’s basement, prompting officials to continue spraying water to control the situation. Structural issues have emerged, with cracks appearing in the building and one of its side walls leaning. Consequently, officials have revised their strategy to dismantle the side wall to facilitate more effective water spraying into the basement.

The Lat Krabang District Incident Command Center has issued a warning to nearby residents about potential exposure to toxic smoke and fumes. Those affected are encouraged to seek refuge at designated shelters, where public health officers will evaluate their health and provide free face masks. Residents are advised to wear these masks and exercise caution against inhaling the harmful smoke emitted by the ongoing fire.
