Chairman Sophon Leads Volunteer Activity in Honor of Queen Sirikit’s Birthday

Bangkok: "Chairman Sophon" spearheaded a volunteer initiative involving over 2,000 civil servants and council employees under the program "One Hundred Hearts of Loyalty, Doing Good for Society" to celebrate Her Majesty Queen Sirikit's 4th cycle birthday anniversary.

According to Thai News Agency, on June 5, 2026, the event took place at the Parliament, where Mr. Sophon Saram, President of the Parliament and Speaker of the House of Representatives, led executives from the Secretariat of the House of Representatives, civil servants, and approximately 2,000 employees in a volunteer activity. This initiative was in honor of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit's 4th cycle birthday celebration on June 3, 2026. The event, held at the King Prajadhipok Monument, featured an oath of allegiance to their duties.

Mr. Sophon expressed that since the 27th House of Representatives was established, there has been a concerted effort to transform the parliament into a multi-dimensional working body for the nation. This vision includes renovating the Parliament building into a landmark similar to how other countries utilize their parliaments as showcases and green spaces. Beyond supporting MPs, there is a focus on developing civil servants through self-improvement and volunteer projects to contribute to society.

Plans for personnel development include physical and mental initiatives. Physical development will involve exercise programs, promoting aerobics competitions, and jogging. Mental development efforts will incorporate meditation practices. Mr. Sophon emphasized the need for comprehensive and multi-dimensional development, utilizing the natural beauty of the Chao Phraya River and the Parliament building's full potential.

Mr. Sophon also articulated his hope that the new parliament would inspire hope and propel the country forward, working alongside the executive branch to pursue legislation rigorously and play an active role in societal assistance. Additionally, he announced a plan to have a team salute the national flag at 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM daily at the parliament.
