Bangkok: Chaiyachanok Chidchob, the Minister of Digital Economy and Society and Secretary-General of the Bhumjaithai Party, has expressed confidence in the face of an impending no-confidence motion. He emphasized the importance of leveraging his position as a "lightning rod" to his advantage, acknowledging both the positive and negative aspects that come with such a role.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Chaiyachanok addressed the opposition's planned no-confidence motion, stressing the need for every ministry to be prepared. He mentioned that his ministry has been actively compiling points of interest from the opposition and is continuously gathering more information. He views these political challenges as normal and unavoidable, urging his team to remain focused on their work.
When questioned by reporters about his concerns over being scrutinized during the parliamentary debate, Mr. Chaiyachanok expressed no apprehension. He acknowledged his role as a "lightning rod" minister and explained that this position attracts both challenges and opportunities. He noted that achievements and positive outcomes from the agencies he oversees would garner special attention, which he does not perceive as negative.
Addressing potential political entanglements due to his familial ties, particularly concerning his father, Mr. Newin Chidchob, president of Buriram United Football Club, Mr. Chaiyachanok acknowledged the inevitability of being linked to political matters. As the secretary-general of the party forming the government, he accepted that such associations were part of his political responsibilities.
