Chaiyawat Appointed as Secretary to Minister of Interior

Bangkok: The Cabinet approved the appointment of Chaiyawat as Secretary to the Minister of Interior. The Cabinet meeting resulted in the appointment of several political officials and civil servants to high-level positions, as proposed by the relevant agencies.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Lalida Periswiwatana, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, stated that the Cabinet has appointed Mr. Saroj Samart as Deputy Secretary-General to the Prime Minister for Political Affairs, under Deputy Prime Minister Pipat Ratchakitprakarn. Sub-Lieutenant Sarun Samanphan and Mr. Suksit Srijomkwan have also been appointed to similar roles under Deputy Prime Ministers Ekniti Nitithanpraphak and Yoschanan Wongsawat, respectively.

Furthermore, Ms. Banjongjit Angsusingh has taken the position of Advisor to the Minister of Commerce, while Mr. Worawut Poskanon has been appointed Secretary to the Minister of Commerce. In the Ministry of Transport, Mr. Ratchapong Chukaew has been designated as Secretary. The Ministry of Industry sees Mr. Noppadol Matrisri as Advisor and Mr. Thanesapol Thanaboonyawat as Secretary.

Dr. Sriyada Palimapan has been appointed Advisor to the Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, with Mr. Chatrin Chanhom as Secretary to the Minister. Mr. Sakda Wichiansilp will serve as Advisor to the Minister of Interior alongside Mr. Chaiyawat Junthirapong, who has been appointed as Secretary.

In terms of civil servant appointments, Mr. Bancha Yuenyongjongcharoen has been named Ambassador to Maputo, Mozambique, and Mr. Chiwin Na Klang as Ambassador to Madrid, Spain. Mr. Phuechphop Mongkolnavin will serve in Bucharest, Romania, while Ms. Ekagorn Kunacharoen will be the Ambassador to Lima, Peru. Domestically, Ms. Somrudee Poophoranek and Ms. Jaithai Upakarnnitikaset will hold Director-General positions in the Departments of European Affairs and Information, respectively. Ms. Prangtip Chansomsak and Mr. Nopadol Pheriruek have been appointed Ambassador at the Ministry, Office of the Permanent Secretary, and Secretary-General of the Council of State, respectively.

These appointments are set to take effect from April 21, 2026.
