Nonthaburi: In a shocking development, Chalong Riangrang has confessed to the shooting of the Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization (PAO) Chairman, admitting that the incident was not premeditated. Chalong stated that he was compelled to fire after the chairman's driver allegedly drew a gun first.

According to Thai News Agency, Chalong Riangrang, a former Nonthaburi Member of Parliament, was escorted by police from the Rattanathibet Police Station following the fatal shooting of Pol. Col. Thongchai Yenprasert, the Nonthaburi PAO President. Chalong revealed that he had visited the chairman to reclaim a debt of 11 million baht, which he had previously lent to him to cover his mounting medical expenses.

Chalong, who insists he has never faced legal trouble before, shared that his actions were driven by financial necessity after years of financially supporting friends without expecting repayment. He explained that the confrontation escalated when the chairman repudiated his request for financial help, provoking an angry exchange.

During the encounter, Chalong recounted being provoked by a comment referencing his political career, which led to a heated argument. The situation intensified when Pol. Col. Thongchai retreated to his car, and an attempt to continue the conversation was met with resistance. Chalong claimed that he raised his firearm only as a precaution, which prompted the driver's alleged reaction of brandishing a weapon, thus leading to the shooting.

After the incident, Chalong fled the scene, mistakenly believing that the injuries inflicted were not severe. He later surrendered to the authorities, reiterating that he had no intention of causing harm and expressing remorse over the situation.

Chalong extended an apology to the residents of Nonthaburi and the family of the PAO President, insisting on the friendship he shared with the chairman and expressing regret over the tragic turn of events. He also conveyed his sorrow for the impact on his own family, particularly his daughter, whom he believes is deeply affected by the incident.
