Chai Nat:The Royal Irrigation Department is actively reducing the water discharge from the Chao Phraya Dam to 2,200 cubic meters per second by 1000 PM, responding to a decrease in water flow from upstream areas.
According to Thai News Agency, the department began reducing the discharge from 2,300 cubic meters per second starting at noon today, October 9, 2026. This measure aims to lessen the downstream water flow and alleviate the impact on residents along the Chao Phraya River.
As of this morning, the water flow rate at station C.2 in Nakhon Sawan province was 1,994 cubic meters per second, while station C.19 on the Sakae Krang River in Uthai Thani province recorded a flow rate of 58 cubic meters per second. The current water release from the Chao Phraya Dam is at 2,300 cubic meters per second, with the upstream water level at +15.99 meters above mean sea level, indicating a continuous downward trend.
The gradual reduction in water discharge, averaging approximately 10 cubic meters per second, will be maintained to manage water flow according to rainfall and runoff conditions. The Royal Irrigation Department is closely monitoring upstream water volumes and rainfall patterns to ensure adjustments in water discharge are made as necessary, considering the impact on communities both upstream and downstream of the dam.
