Bangkok:The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has forecasted that the Chao Phraya River will not overflow its flood barriers today but has advised 11 communities to remain alert.
According to Thai News Agency, while the river levels are not expected to exceed the dike, vigilance is advised for communities outside the flood barrier and 11 at-risk areas in Dusit, Phra Nakhon, Bang Kho Laem, Yannawa, Bangkok Noi, and Khlong San districts. Residents along the Bangkok Noi and Maha Sawat canals should also be watchful for potential water seepage.
The Hydrographic Department forecasts that the Chao Phraya River will reach its peak level at 15:42. A high tide was recorded in front of the Royal Thai Navy Headquarters in Bangkok Noi district, with a level of +1.72 meters above mean sea level, well below the critical level of +3.00 meters. This forecast is based on a high tide of +1.04 meters above mean sea level during the two daily high tides.
Water levels at monitoring points remain beneath the flood protection dike along the river, with a clearance of approximately 1.20 to 1.53 meters, as the dike stands at 2.8 to 3.5 meters high. The BMA continues to monitor the situation closely to ensure the safety and well-being of residents along the river, urging the public to follow updates regularly and promising prompt announcements of any changes.
