Chatchart Sittipunt Deliberates on Bid for Bangkok Governor Re-Election

Bangkok: Chatchart Sittipunt, the current governor of Bangkok, has announced that he will provide an answer within two months regarding his decision to run for another term. He emphasized the challenges of the next four years and highlighted that his team is focused on finalizing policies to present to the residents of Bangkok, aiming to provide satisfactory answers to the public.

According to Thai News Agency, Chatchart addressed inquiries about his potential re-election bid by stating, "Many people have been asking about running. I'm not in a hurry. I want to focus on my current duties first. I'll announce it in two months when the time is right. Right now, I'm thinking about my policies and what I could do if elected. My team is helping me develop policies. Announcing my candidacy now wouldn't benefit anyone. Announcing I wouldn't run would make my work more difficult. Announcing I would run and then changing my mind later wouldn't be good either. Ultimately, when the time comes, the people will choose the best person. I'm doing my best in my current role."

Chatchart also addressed the potential involvement of a network in the upcoming election, similar to the group of friends who supported him last time. He explained that developing policies necessitates a support network and that these policies must be thoroughly refined to address future challenges, which are expected to become more difficult and complex. The focus is not solely on immediate problems but also on ensuring that the next four years are managed effectively with well-prepared solutions for the public.

Additionally, Chatchart mentioned the upcoming launch of a website to invite public input on ideas, policies, or concepts. This platform will collect and summarize suggestions from residents.

He further stated that there is no need to rush into announcing his candidacy, as he does not want to retract any statements once made. His priority is to focus on his current responsibilities while evaluating both options. Ultimately, he seeks the best solution for the public and will announce his decision closer to the deadline.
