Chiang Mai Celebrates Final Day of Songkran with Energetic Water Fights

Chiang mai: The area around Jaeng Sri Phum, along the moat surrounding Chiang Mai city, was crowded with locals and tourists enjoying a refreshing water fight, marking the final day of Songkran.

According to Thai News Agency, the area around Jaeng Sri Phum saw a noticeable increase in activity compared to the previous day. Cars, tuk-tuks, motorcycles, and pickup trucks carrying water tanks navigated the streets, participating in the water-splashing festivities of the Songkran festival.

Vendors along the moat were actively engaging with the crowd, selling goods and splashing water. Tourists joined in the fun, equipped with water guns and buckets, taking part in the water-splashing activities that brought joy to everyone involved.

Even though the Lanna calendar marks Phaya Wan or Thaloeng Sok Day on April 16th, many families in Chiang Mai visited temples to make merit and receive blessings for the Thai New Year. With the Songkran holiday ending, many families plan to return to work in Bangkok, prompting them to participate in merit-making activities today. Those who have not yet made merit during Songkran still have the opportunity to visit a temple this afternoon for blessings and good fortune.

The most vibrant Songkran water festival in Chiang Mai concludes today, inviting everyone to join the final splashing activities.
