Chiang Mai Sets Ambitious Goal for Voter Turnout in Upcoming Election

Chiang mai: The Election Commission of Thailand (ECT) is holding a "Big Day" event to campaign for the general election and referendum on February 8th at the Three Kings Monument in the heart of Chiang Mai, aiming for a voter turnout of at least 80%.

According to Thai News Agency, the "Big Day" event was organized by the ECT to promote the upcoming election and referendum. The event took place at the iconic Three Kings Monument in downtown Chiang Mai, drawing thousands of participants, including government officials, students, and other citizens, who showed their support for the democratic process.

Chiang Mai province is known for its high voter engagement, consistently achieving strong voter turnouts in previous elections. In the 2023 parliamentary election, over 1.08 million residents of Chiang Mai exercised their right to vote, marking an impressive turnout of nearly 82%. This year, the province aims to surpass that figure, targeting at least an 83% voter turnout.
