Chiang Mai University Launches Free AI Course in Collaboration with Meta

Chiang mai: Chiang Mai University (CMU) has partnered with Meta to introduce a free online course titled “AI for Everyday Life” aimed at enhancing the digital skills of Thai citizens. The initiative seeks to improve public understanding of artificial intelligence (AI) and equip individuals with vital digital skills necessary for navigating life and work in today’s technology-driven world.

According to Thai News Agency, the course “Keeping Pace with Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Modern Life” (AI for Everyday Life) is structured to provide participants with a thorough understanding of AI. It covers the foundational principles of AI systems and offers a realistic perspective on the technology’s potential and limitations. Students will learn to critically assess AI results, questioning their accuracy, fairness, and potential biases, an essential skill in an era of rapidly generated and disseminated information.

A significant feature of the course is its emphasis on connecting technological knowledge with real-world applications. It encourages learners not only to comprehend the mechanics of AI but also to consider its impact on human emotions, decision-making processes, and the diverse range of users. The course strives to promote equitable access to technology and the design of AI systems that are inclusive of all societal segments. Through real-world case studies, particularly those showcasing AI applications in Thai education, students gain practical insights that go beyond the typical focus on tool usage.

The course content emphasizes building a deep understanding of AI’s workings, its influence on users, and the principles of responsible technology application. This includes considerations of accuracy, fairness, transparency, and data security, in line with the Responsible AI concept upheld by both CMU and Meta.
