Chiang Mai Zoo Unveils New Mascot in Year-End Celebration

Bangkok: Chiang Mai Zoo is serving up a parade of wild animal mascots to bring joy to end the old year. Today at Chiang Mai Zoo, a parade of wildlife mascots was held, along with the unveiling of a new mascot, Chaiyo the elephant, bringing joy to celebrate the end of the old year and welcome the new year until National Children’s Day in 2026.

According to Thai News Agency, at Chiang Mai Zoo, various animal mascots, including elephants, horses, tigers, and pandas, participated in a parade, walking down to the gardens to greet tourists. They were joined by young students from Rom Kaew Kindergarten, who also performed Lanna-style gong playing, adding to the joy for the visitors.

In addition, Chiang Mai Zoo also unveiled its mascot, Chaba Kaew, an elephant that was used as the symbol for the SEA Games hosted by Thailand in Chiang Mai in 1995, which greatly impressed tourists and residents of Chiang Mai.

Chiang Mai Zoo Director, Ms. Ularika Kongprom, stated that the “Bringing Happiness to the End of the Old Year and the Beginning of the New Year” activity featuring various wild animal mascots will be held during weekends and public holidays, starting on December 20th and continuing until National Children’s Day in 2026. She invited parents to bring their children to visit the zoo, see the adorable mascots, and participate in this joyful activity at Chiang Mai Zoo.
