Beijing: China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has unveiled a proposal to develop at least 100 national standards for the humanoid robotics industry by 2028. The initiative aims to create a comprehensive and harmonized standards system, encouraging adoption by over 200 enterprises.

According to Thai News Agency, the ministry is inviting public comments on the draft guidelines from August 25 to September 23, 2026. The guidelines outline the development of key standards in performance testing, evaluation methods, core technologies, platforms, application scenarios, and security governance to establish an effective standards system.

The draft defines humanoid robots as AI-driven intelligent terminal devices that resemble humans and can autonomously perform complex tasks. Currently, more than 100 standards related to humanoid robots are being developed or researched globally.

Additionally, the guidelines propose methods for assessing humanoid robot capabilities, creating standards for identifiers and coding rules, and setting requirements for operational capabilities in industrial environments. Ethical standards and social impact assessments are also emphasized, prioritizing safety and ethical considerations alongside efficiency and commercialization. Public feedback will be collected until September 23, 2026, to refine the national standards system.
