China Demands Comprehensive Accountability from Japan Following Embassy Invasion

Tokyo: China has called on Japan to take greater responsibility beyond merely expressing regret after Japanese soldiers, armed with knives, stormed the Chinese embassy in Tokyo. The Chinese Foreign Ministry has deemed Japan's expression of "regret" as insufficient.

According to Thai News Agency, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman, Lin Jian, addressed the situation during a daily press briefing. Lin criticized Japan's lack of a detailed explanation regarding the embassy invasion incident. He highlighted that although Japan has formally expressed profound regrets, it falls short of what is necessary. Lin insisted that Japan should undertake a thorough investigation promptly and issue a responsible statement to the Chinese authorities.

Japanese government spokesman Minoru Kihara acknowledged the incident, which took place on Tuesday, describing it as regrettable. He assured that the Japanese government would implement measures to prevent such occurrences in the future.

This incident poses a risk of further straining relations between China and Japan, which have been deteriorating since November. The tension escalated when the Japanese Prime Minister suggested that Japan might consider military intervention if China's actions against Taiwan compromise Japanese territorial security.
