China Prosecutes Over 11,000 for Online Fraud in Myanmar

Beijing: China is prosecuting 11,000 individuals for online fraud in Myanmar. China's Supreme People's Procuratorate announced that it has prosecuted more than 11,000 individuals repatriated from northern Myanmar on charges of online fraud during the first 11 months of 2025.

According to Thai News Agency, Xinhua News Agency reported that prosecutors across China approved the arrest of more than 4,300 suspects involved in online and telephone fraud during the first 11 months of last year. This effort is part of a vigorous crackdown on cross-border telecommunications fraud.

The office further stated that China has prosecuted approximately 62,000 individuals for telecommunications and online fraud-related crimes during that period, including those deported back to China from northern Myanmar.
