Beijing: China has released images of water surging into Lake Barrier, which formed following a glacial collapse near the border of Nepal and China's Tibet Autonomous Region, highlighting the continued risk of natural disasters in the affected area.

According to Thai News Agency, aerial drone footage from the Chinese military reveals torrents of water and mud cascading into Lake Barrier, which formed following glacial collapses near the Nepal border and in China's Tibet Autonomous Region since Wednesday, underscoring the ongoing disaster risk in the affected areas.

The Chinese military also stated that it detected ice debris flowing into Lake Barrier yesterday. Monitoring of Lake Barrier comes as the death toll in Nepal rises to 626, with 1,924 missing.

In China, the death toll rose to seven, with 554 people still missing. Rescue operations resumed on Friday in both Nepal and China after concerns about overflowing Lake Barrier eased.
