Beijing: China has elevated its alert level to the highest in anticipation of Typhoon Dolphin, leading to the suspension of ferry services and the halting of offshore construction projects. As the typhoon approaches, heavy rains and strong winds are predicted to impact several areas.

According to Thai News Agency, the China National Meteorological Center maintained a yellow alert for the storm, which is the third highest of the four alert levels. The center of the storm was observed on Friday morning approximately 820 kilometers east of Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province. Typhoon Dolphin is carrying sustained winds of level 14 and is projected to pass through the Ryukyu Islands into the East China Sea. It is anticipated to make landfall along the coasts of Zhejiang Province and northern Fujian Province by Sunday afternoon or Monday morning. Consequently, Ningbo and Zhoushan in Zhejiang Province have heightened their emergency response levels to level 2.

In response, maritime authorities in Ningbo have paused 46 offshore construction projects and positioned over 100 emergency rescue vessels at ports. Similarly, Fujian Province has stopped 70 offshore construction projects and evacuated hazardous cargo ships from the vicinity. Ships navigating the Taiwan Strait have been cautioned to steer clear of the storm's trajectory. Additionally, at Shanghai's chemical industry zone port, cargo ships that have completed unloading are instructed to relocate to safer, deeper waters.
