Chinese Ambassador Congratulates Thai Prime Minister and Promotes Chinese New Year Festivities

Bangkok: The Chinese Ambassador met with the Thai Prime Minister to congratulate him on his recent election victory and to celebrate the 51st anniversary of Thai-Chinese diplomatic relations.

According to Thai News Agency, the meeting took place at the Thai Khu Fah Building, where Mr. Zhang Jianwei, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Thailand, and his delegation held discussions with Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.

The Ambassador expressed his congratulations to the Prime Minister for his majority victory in the recent elections, noting that it reflects the people's confidence in his leadership. He also thanked the Prime Minister for planning to attend the Chinese New Year celebration at the Chinese Embassy in Thailand, highlighting the significance of this event as a symbol of the close ties between the two nations.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the 51st anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and China offers a unique chance to enhance cooperation across various levels. He assured that the Thai government is eager to work closely with China to strengthen understanding, trust, and cultural connections between the two countries.

Both parties agreed that the 2026 Thailand Chinese New Year Festival will be instrumental in promoting tourism and encouraging Chinese tourists to visit Thailand, not only during the Chinese New Year but throughout the year. They committed to continued cooperation to enhance tourism and economic partnerships for mutual long-term benefits.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister participated in a photo session to promote the 2026 Thailand Chinese New Year Festival alongside representatives from the Chinese Embassy and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT). A ceremonial horse was presented to the Prime Minister to commemorate the occasion.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand, in collaboration with government and private sector partners, is organizing the "Amazing Thailand Happy Chinese New Year 2026" festival. The main events will occur in Bangkok at Yaowarat and Siam Paragon, featuring cultural performances and demonstrations by Thai and Chinese artists.

Moreover, TAT is hosting the Amazing Thailand Chinese New Year 2026 @ Hat Yai event in Songkhla Province, showcasing Chinese art, culture, and performances. TAT is also supporting celebrations in key provinces with strong traditions and working with shopping malls and businesses to create a vibrant atmosphere during the 2026 Chinese New Year festival.
