Chinese EVs Overtake Israeli Market as XPeng Dethrones Tesla

Tel aviv: Chinese EVs dominate the Israeli market! 'XPeng' takes the top spot, dethroning Tesla with 3,503 units sold.

According to Thai News Agency, the Israel Association of Vehicle Importers released a sales report for the period of January to July 2026, revealing that XPeng Motors, a major Chinese electric vehicle (EV) brand, topped the Israeli EV market with a total of 3,503 units sold. Key models sold included the mid-size crossover SUVs G6 and G9, the P7 sedan, and the luxury 7-seater X9 minivan. Previous champion Tesla fell to second place with 3,162 units sold, followed by Changan Automobile from China in third place with 2,318 units. This resulted in Chinese brands capturing more than 70% of the Israeli EV market share during the first seven months of the year.

Looking at the overall Israeli automotive market, encompassing petrol, hybrid, and electric vehicles, Chinese automakers continue to dominate with total sales of 90,206 units, significantly ahead of second-place South Korean manufacturers with 32,728 units and third-place Japanese manufacturers with 20,981 units.

Furthermore, the Chinese automotive giant Chery topped the sales charts in Israel's overall automotive market during the first seven months of the year, selling 46,542 vehicles. This surpassed leading automakers like Toyota from Japan (19,028 units) and Hyundai from South Korea (third place with 18,023 units), clearly reflecting the rapid growth and popularity of Chinese car brands in Israel.
