Chinese Nationals Arrested for Selling Over 27,000 Counterfeit Products in Pratunam Shopping Mall

Bangkok: Police raided and arrested Chinese nationals who were selling fake goods in a shopping mall in the Pratunam area. They seized over 27,000 items of evidence. The counterfeit goods included snacks imported from China.

According to Thai News Agency, the Central Investigation Bureau, through the Technology Crime Suppression Division, arrested a 48-year-old Chinese man. The evidence collected included clothing, jewelry, watches, necklaces, and earrings that bore counterfeit trademarks already registered in the Kingdom. Also seized were chocolate-covered almond snacks, totaling more than 27,856 items. These items were found in an unnamed shop in the Pratunam area and two other chain shops.

After discovering that Chinese individuals were secretly selling products and snacks imported from China, which were counterfeit and bore other people’s trademarks, further investigation was conducted. Authorities tracked down the bank account used to pay for the products and identified the individual involved. The suspect confessed that the products belonged to him and that he was operating alongside another Chinese associate. Officials are set to expand their investigation to arrest further accomplices.
