Bangkok: Chulalongkorn University has announced the full implementation of the TCASFolio system, focusing on evaluating "content and abilities" rather than appearance or aesthetics. This move aims to reduce inequality and support the development of human capital.

According to Thai News Agency, Professor Dr. Yotsanun Wongsawat, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), expressed his approval of the initiative via social media on July 24, 2026. He commended Chulalongkorn University for setting an example by fully implementing the TCASFolio system for TCAS Round 1 admissions. Professor Wongsawat hopes this will encourage other educational institutions to consider adopting the system.

The TCASFolio system is a collaborative project funded and implemented by MHESI and the Council of University Presidents of Thailand (CUPT). It offers young people free access to a platform that ensures a consistent scoring standard for student portfolios nationwide. The focus is on assessing the "content" and actual abilities, rather than the design's appearance or aesthetics. Additionally, the system provides a central database useful for analysis and helps prevent forgery or misrepresentation of work.

This initiative aligns with policies aimed at reducing inequality, lowering costs, and providing all young people with truly equal access to higher education. It marks a significant step towards the "human capital development" of the country.
