Chulalongkorn University Launches Thailand’s First Online Life Skills Course with Sign Language Interpretation

Bangkok:Chulalongkorn University has launched the CHULA MOOC online course focused on life skills development, marking a significant milestone as the first such course in Thailand to include full sign language interpretation. This initiative aims to provide nationwide opportunities for students with hearing impairments.

According to Thai News Agency, the university has partnered with the Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC) and the Life Skills Development Foundation to enhance educational access for children, youth, and students with hearing impairments across the country. This collaboration was formalized through a memorandum of understanding, emphasizing the delivery of the CHULA MOOC course in Life Skills Development.

The course is structured into three sections self-communication, initial guidance, and life planning, allowing learners to gain insights into self-awareness, personal needs, and life objectives. This comprehensive tool is designed to aid in self-development and prepare learners to face the outside world with confidence.

This initiative represents not only the first online life skills course in Thailand with full sign language interpretation but also Chulalongkorn University's inaugural effort to offer accessible learning opportunities to the hearing impaired in collaboration with multiple organizations. It facilitates the participation of children and youth from OBEC-affiliated schools nationwide, alongside educators and the general public.

The course will be accessible for free starting November 14, 2026, via the website mooc.chula.ac.th, in celebration of National Disability Day. Additionally, interested individuals can download a free life planner from thailifeskills.org.
