Chuwit Urges Anutin to Tackle Scam Networks for Political Gain

Bangkok: Chuwit Kamolvisit, the former leader of the Rak Prathet Thai Party, has called on Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul to seize the opportunity to address scam networks, suggesting that doing so could enhance their political standing. Chuwit emphasized that the Thai political landscape is sometimes a breeding ground for mafia-like figures, and it’s crucial for the government to act decisively.

According to Thai News Agency, Chuwit addressed the speculations surrounding seven Thai politicians allegedly connected to a Cambodian call center gang. He voiced that the public is already aware of the situation and that he had previously shared this information with Rangsiman Rome and Ms. Rakchanok Srinok, a Bangkok MP for the Prachachon Party. Both politicians have been outspoken on the matter, emphasizing nationalism and the misuse of political networks. Chuwit has urged the government to take action against these scams, predicting that such efforts would significantly boost the popularity of the Prime Minister and the Bhumjaithai Party.

Chuwit revealed that the information he possesses dates back to the Chinese-Tai era, documenting individuals listed as company directors involved in these scams. He noted that those implicated are now attempting to disassociate themselves by removing their names.

When questioned about revealing the initials of the involved parties, Chuwit declined, citing his recent interaction with the Prime Minister. He expressed his support for the Prime Minister, with whom he has a long-standing relationship, and suggested that tackling the scammer issue would improve Anutin’s political reputation. He believes that resolving these problems would position the Bhumjaithai Party favorably in upcoming Bangkok elections, especially given Cambodia’s current status as a global scam hub.

During an event at the Polo Football Park in Bangkok’s Pathumwan District, Chuwit approached the Prime Minister, who was attending a football match. The interaction was cordial, with both leaders sharing a light-hearted moment. Reporters observed Chuwit attempting to engage the Prime Minister in conversation, after which they exchanged pleasantries and parted on friendly terms.
