Buriram: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) conducted a raid on a karaoke bar in Khok Ma Subdistrict, Prakhon Chai District, Buriram Province, arresting a 31-year-old woman accused of running a prostitution ring involving underage girls. The operation was carried out under the directive of the CIB's Anti-Human Trafficking Division.
According to Thai News Agency, the arrested woman was operating the establishment under the guise of a karaoke bar, employing young girls as waitresses and bar hostesses. The investigation revealed that she was secretly providing sexual services to customers and taking commissions from the transactions. This led to the issuance of an arrest warrant by the Buriram Provincial Court, charging her with human trafficking, procuring for indecent acts, child abduction, and violations related to the Child Protection Act.
The arrest was part of a broader effort by the Central Investigation Bureau to combat the exploitation of minors for prostitution. During the raid, investigators discovered two underage girls, Ms. B (17) and Ms. C (15), within the premises. The authorities immediately coordinated with the Department of Social Development and Human Security in Buriram Province to ensure that the rescued individuals received necessary support and protection.
The CIB's initiative highlights the ongoing challenge of human trafficking in the region and underscores the commitment of law enforcement agencies to protect vulnerable populations.
