Bangkok: Starting today, citizens can "check criminal records online" through the Criminal Records Division website. The service is convenient, fast, secure, and results are received immediately via email, supporting the government's digital policy.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Ploytale Laksmisangchan, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that in line with the government's digital policy, which focuses on transforming the civil service system with the goal of providing fully online services (Zero Paper), connecting data from all agencies through a single Super App, and making government data open (Open Data) for transparency, the Criminal Records Division of the Royal Thai Police is upgrading its public services to the fully digital era. They have announced the launch of an online criminal background check system using name, surname, and national identification number. This will facilitate the process for the general public and those requiring background checks for job applications or various transactions. The system will officially launch on July 15, 2026.
Ms. Ploytalee stated that citizens can check criminal records online through the official website of the Criminal Records Division, www.crd.go.th/bg/landing, which is convenient, fast, and secure through four steps as follows: Fill out the application, verify identity via the ThaiD application or by using the laser code on the back of the national ID card, complete the online payment, and receive the background check results via email with a secure digital signature.
Those who choose to verify their identity through the ThaiD application will receive maximum benefits, including the ability to check and receive their criminal record via email anytime, anywhere. Citizens who prefer physical documents can still collect their results in person at service points nationwide, including the Criminal Records Division, Forensic Science Centers 1-10, and Provincial Forensic Science Centers nationwide. For further inquiries, individuals are encouraged to contact the Name and Surname Verification Unit at 0 2205 1347 or visit the website www.crd.go.th.
