Coach “O” Targets 2026 ASEAN Championship for Thai Women’s Futsal Team

Nakhon ratchasima: Coach "O" Thanathorn Santhanaprasit, the head coach of the Thai women's futsal national team, has set his sights on leading the team to victory at the ASEAN Futsal Championship in 2026 after missing out on the gold medal at the 2025 SEA Games.

According to Thai News Agency, the Thai women's futsal national team, led by new captain Darika Pienphaylun, along with team members Praeploy Huajai Phet and Ariya Saetern, commenced their first training session in Nakhon Ratchasima province. This session marks their preparation for the 2026 ASEAN Women's Futsal Championship.

During the training, Coach O focused on developing the team's attacking rhythm, improving their finishing in the final third, and enhancing coordination between the strikers and defenders. The coach expressed confidence in the team's readiness for the tournament. He acknowledged the disappointments at the World Championships and the SEA Games, emphasizing the team's resolve to reclaim the ASEAN championship. The pressure is intensified by the fact that the team missed out on the SEA Games and are playing at home, but Coach O is confident that the players are prepared both physically and mentally.

The ASEAN Women's Futsal Championship 2026 schedule for Group A includes a match on February 24th, where Thailand (ranked 8th in the world) will face Indonesia (ranked 18th in the world) at 6:30 PM. This will be followed by a match against Malaysia (ranked 21st in the world) on February 26th at 6:30 PM. The competition will be held at Terminal Hall, Terminal 21 Korat Shopping Mall, in Nakhon Ratchasima Province.
