Bangkok: The Civil Court has officially launched the "Collaborative Mediation Project 2026" to enhance public knowledge and appreciation of mediation as a method for resolving disputes, applicable both before and after litigation.
According to Thai News Agency, the opening ceremony was presided over by Mr. Thani Singhanat, Chief Judge of the Civil Court. Held at the Grand Meeting Room on the 12th floor of the Civil Court Building, the event saw participation from over 100 attendees, including Deputy Chief Judges, judges, secretaries, directors, civil servants, court mediators, and representatives from banks, government, and private sector agencies, as well as lawyers.
The Mediation Project 2026 was initiated with the goal of promoting mediation in dispute resolution. The project aims to build public knowledge and understanding while encouraging the public to recognize the benefits of mediation both before and after legal proceedings. To achieve these objectives, the Civil Court has outlined several activities under the project. These include the establishment of a one-stop service point at the Mediation and Conciliation Center on the 9th floor of the Civil Court building. This center will offer consultation, guidance on the mediation process, and facilitate comprehensive mediation services.
Additionally, the project will include public relations activities to disseminate knowledge about the dispute resolution process to community leaders and the public at external agencies, such as district offices under the jurisdiction of the civil court. Lectures will be conducted to provide basic legal knowledge about dispute resolution to personnel in various organizations and the general public. The "Young Mediator" activity will also be organized to promote peaceful dispute resolution concepts among secondary and tertiary students through simulated mediation demonstrations and practical opportunities.
Furthermore, the project plans to produce video materials to spread knowledge about the mediation process via the Civil Court's communication channels. The project is scheduled to take place from April to June 2026.
