Songkhla: The Commander of Provincial Police Region 9 continues to assess the situation in the southern border region ahead of the Cabinet's mobile meeting in Songkhla. The Commander of Provincial Police Region 9 confirmed that the situation in the southern border provinces is being continuously assessed in preparation for the Cabinet's mobile meeting in Songkhla. He explained that they are awaiting the results of the investigation into the bullets allegedly coming from a reconnaissance helicopter to clarify the situation.
According to Thai News Agency, Police Lieutenant General Piyawat Chalermsri, Commander of Provincial Police Region 9, revealed after the 6th National Security Council meeting of 2026 regarding security preparations for the Cabinet meeting in Songkhla province that, given the current situation, all parties are holding daily meetings to monitor the situation and ensure security in the area, as well as facilitate traffic and other tasks related to the Cabinet.
The security situation is being assessed, including monitoring incidents that may affect order in the area, and coordinating efforts between the military, police, and the Governor of Songkhla Province, as well as the governors of the seven provinces in the region.
Pol. Lt. Gen. Piyawat said that it's not that they are not concerned, but all officers have prepared and worked to the best of their ability, especially during the Prime Minister's visits to the area. The police place particular importance on this because the Prime Minister is the leader of the country, and therefore, security must be strictly maintained.
Regarding the State Security Committee's statement about the examination of bullets allegedly fired from a surveillance helicopter, and the police's request for three days to conduct the analysis, Police Lieutenant General Piyawat stated that the police will await the results of the investigation and forensic examination from the relevant agencies before drawing any conclusions. The police will proceed with caution, as this is an issue requiring a thorough examination of all evidence before any conclusions can be drawn.
