Bangkok:Thailand will host the 2026 Annual Meeting of the IMF and World Bank Group Governors from October 12-18, 2026, as revealed by Dr. Ekniti Nitithanprapas, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance. To mark this occasion, the Treasury Department has produced commemorative coins celebrating the reign of His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen, aiming to elevate Thailand's international reputation.
According to Thai News Agency, two types of commemorative coins have been produced a polished white metal (copper-nickel alloy) coin and an ordinary white metal coin. Both coins have a denomination of 100 baht, weigh 25 grams, and measure 38 mm in diameter. The polished version has a limited production of 30,000 coins, available at 700 baht each, while the ordinary version has 200,000 coins, exchangeable at 100 baht.
Mr. Theeralak Saengsanit, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance and Acting Director-General of the Treasury Department, explained the coin's design. The obverse features the portraits of King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklao Chao Yu Hua and Queen Suthida Pacharasutha Pimollakshana, with inscriptions and decorative Thai motifs. The reverse showcases the 2026 Annual Meeting emblem, with inscriptions and denomination details.
The commemorative coins will be available for exchange from October 9, 2026, through various channels, including the Currency Management Division in Pathum Thani, and coin exchange units in Bangkok. Additionally, coins can be accessed via provincial Treasury Department offices and online through the TRD e-Commerce application, where orders will be shipped via postal service.
