Bangkok:The Treasury Department has announced the launch of two types of commemorative coins in honor of Thailand hosting the 2026 IMF-World Bank Group Annual Meetings, set to take place from October 12-18, 2026.
According to Thai News Agency, the coins were unveiled by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Mr. Ekniti Nitithanprapas, and Mr. Theeralak Saengsanit, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance and Acting Director-General of the Treasury Department. The coins celebrate the achievements of His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen and aim to promote Thailand's image to an international audience.
The commemorative coins come in two variants a polished white metal 100-baht coin with a limited production of 30,000 pieces, which will retail at 700 baht, and a regular 100-baht coin with a production limit of 200,000 pieces, available for exchange at its face value. Both coins have a diameter of 38 millimeters, weigh 25 grams, and feature portraits of the King and Queen on the front, with the IMF-World Bank 2026 conference emblem on the back.
Starting October 9, those interested in acquiring the coins can exchange them at coin exchange units in Bangkok, the Currency Management Division, and at 76 regional Treasury offices across the country. They can also be ordered online through the Treasury Department website and the TRD e-Commerce application, with shipping costs covered by the buyer.
Thailand's role as host for the conference not only facilitates global economic discussions but also provides a platform to demonstrate the country's potential to investors and the international community.
