Bangkok: Preparations are underway to sign an order appointing a committee to investigate serious disciplinary violations by five government officials implicated in corruption during local government exams.

According to Thai News Agency, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Mr. Arsit Sampanrat, announced the progress in establishing a committee to investigate these violations. The order to establish the committee is expected to be signed soon and is currently pending approval. This process will involve appointing both the chairman and the committee members.

Mr. Arsit emphasized that the Ministry of Interior will fully take action in its respective areas. Those involved, including employers and the private sector, will be dealt with according to the Prime Minister's instructions. He highlighted the importance of resolving issues in the Department of Local Administration as per the Prime Minister's directive.

If any individual is found guilty, they will face individual disciplinary investigations. The timeframe for these investigations will be determined by the newly appointed committee. Mr. Arsit affirmed that the process will be pursued to its fullest extent, and those responsible will be held accountable. He remarked, "Karma will take its course."

Regarding the committee's previous actions, Mr. Arsit clarified that while the Ministry of Interior's committee had resolved to postpone the process, other agencies had decided that those who passed the exam should report for duty. Hence, they had to proceed according to the meeting's resolution.

Mr. Arsit also mentioned that all appointees must be recalled, acknowledging that some were involved in corruption and are therefore considered guilty. Despite their appointments, the issue of corruption has not been resolved.
