Compensation for Thai-Cambodian Border Personnel Awaits Approval

Bangkok: The Army explains that compensation for personnel on the Thai-Cambodian border is awaiting approval. The Royal Thai Army clarified the compensation payments, as per the Cabinet's resolution, for personnel injured and killed in the Thai-Cambodian border conflict. The matter has been submitted to the Budget Bureau and is currently awaiting approval.

According to Thai News Agency, Major General Winthai Suvari, spokesperson for the Royal Thai Army, revealed the progress in providing benefits and compensation in accordance with the Cabinet resolution to injured personnel and the families of heroes who died in the fighting along the Thai-Cambodian border. He stated that the Royal Thai Army recognizes the great sacrifice and is committed to providing full support and reciprocation as follows:

1. Regarding the benefits within the scope of the Army's administration, these have already been provided to the families of the deceased, including royal grants based on conduct, war damage compensation, and special pensions.

2. Regarding additional special benefits from the government, which are currently undergoing bureaucratic procedures, these include compensation of 10 million baht for personnel who died in the line of duty last December. Since January 2026, the Royal Thai Army has been preparing the necessary documentation to submit to the Budget Bureau for approval of the expenditure from the central budget. Currently, the matter is in the process of being presented to the Prime Minister for approval before being submitted to the Cabinet for final consideration and approval.

The Army spokesperson emphasized that "the Army Commander prioritizes the rights and welfare of military personnel," and has instructed all units and commanders at every level to closely monitor these matters, treating them like family. This includes not only handling paperwork but also visiting to offer encouragement and understand their needs, ensuring that no one is left behind.

The Royal Thai Army confirms that it will continuously monitor progress and coordinate with the Prime Minister's Office to ensure that the families of those who sacrificed their lives receive their rightful benefits as soon as possible, in order to honor and boost the morale of those who have served to protect the nation's sovereignty.
