Comptroller General’s Department Pushes for Quick Procurement of 157 Billion Baht

Bangkok: The Comptroller General’s Department is taking swift action to expedite the procurement and hiring process as part of an economic recovery plan, with a substantial budget of 157 billion baht allocated for this purpose. Government agencies have been urged to act promptly in line with the economic recovery strategy.

According to Thai News Agency, Mrs. Patricia Mongkolvanich, Director-General of the Comptroller General’s Department, has announced that the Cabinet has given the green light to proposals for economic stimulus projects as part of an economic driving plan. This plan falls under a budget framework of 157,000 million baht, with government agencies now allowed to request allocations from the central budget for the fiscal year 2025 to boost the economy and reinforce the economic system.

In a bid to ensure swift procurement, the Government Procurement Policy and Supplies Management Committee has tasked the Government Procurement and Supplies Management Problem Determination Committee with clarifying the process for budget recipients. These recipients have had their projects approved by the Cabinet and are required to expedite the procurement process. A specific timeline has been established for publishing draft announcements and procurement or hiring documents through electronic bidding and general invitation methods. The committee will also consider results in cases with only one bidder, as outlined in the urgent letter No. Kor Kor (Kor Chor) 0405.4/W 195, dated March 20, 2025.

Mrs. Mongkolvanich emphasized that budget units with Cabinet-approved projects should prioritize procurement activities immediately. This will enable budget disbursements to be completed by the fiscal year 2025, aligning government spending with the targets set by the government and the Ministry of Finance to drive the overall economy.
