Court Denies Bail for 27 Members of “Thip’s Parents” Gang

Bangkok: The Central Criminal Court for Corruption Cases has denied bail for all 27 members of the "Thip's Parents" gang, leaving them in jail.

According to Thai News Agency, the court's decision came after an operation by the Bangkok Metropolitan Police aimed at dismantling a fraudulent birth registration ring. This operation, involving the creation of forged documents to register foreign children fraudulently, implicated Thai and Chinese nationals, including some government officials and medical personnel.

The 27 individuals were arrested and prosecuted under various sections of the Criminal Code and other legal statutes, including the Civil Registration Act and the Organic Act on Prevention and Suppression of Corruption. The detention order for the suspects was granted by the court based on charges under the Criminal Code Sections 83, 86, 137, 157, 162 (1) (4), 267, 268, along with additional legal infractions.

While 26 of the suspects filed requests for temporary release during the pretrial detention period, the court denied these requests, citing the organized nature of the crime and its implications for national security. The court's decision aligned with the investigating officers' opposition to granting bail. As a result, the suspects have been detained at Bangkok Special Prison and the Central Women's Correctional Institution.
