Court Sentences “Lawyer Kung” to One Year for Defamation of “Poo”

Bangkok: The Criminal Court has sentenced "Lawyer Kung" to a one-year prison term and imposed a fine of 100,000 baht following a defamation case brought by "Poo Manthana." The charges stemmed from statements made by Lawyer Kung during a television interview, which the court deemed defamatory. However, the court suspended the prison sentence, allowing Lawyer Kung to avoid immediate incarceration.

According to Thai News Agency, the court found that Lawyer Kung had discussed private matters related to the defendant, which were not deemed to be of public benefit. This led to the conclusion that the statements constituted defamation. In contrast, two separate defamation cases against another individual, Lilly, were dismissed at the preliminary hearing stage.

Lawyer Kung accepted the court's verdict and promptly paid the fine. Despite admitting to a mistake, Lawyer Kung expressed no concern over the ruling and announced plans to appeal the decision.
