Bangkok: Adjustments and arrests for shops participating in the Half-Half Plus program are being made for taking advantage of the opportunity to sell goods at high prices. The Ministry of Commerce has continued to conduct inspections, warning and warning merchants not to engage in fraudulent activities, and recommending channels for reporting fraudulent activities.
According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister’s Office Spokesperson Siripong Angkasakulkiat revealed that the Ministry of Commerce’s ongoing inspections of participating merchants in the “Half-Half Plus” program, in accordance with the orders of Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, have found that some participating merchants have violated the program’s objectives. The Ministry has issued warnings and issued legal fines, along with explanations to ensure understanding and prevent misunderstandings that could lead to fines and legal action.
Mr. Siripong further stated that, according to data from the Ministry of Finance, 55 merchants have already suspended their participation in the program (as of October 31, 2025) due to irregular currency exchange and scanning practices away from the point of sale. The Ministry of Finance will take full legal action against merchants involved in the program and will seek full refunds from the merchants, including any government transfers, and will pursue legal action. As of 11:00 PM on November 4th, data on merchants and the use of the “Half-Half Plus” program by merchants showed spending had exceeded 15 billion baht. This includes 7,968.09 million baht spent by the public and 7,773.96 million baht contributed by the government, totaling 15,742.05 million baht. A total of 845,192 merchants have been verified.
